Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) assists students in making informed decisions about their tranzitions from school to post school options. This programme assists students in learning relevant, assessable skills on the job while experiencing what an industry or occupation can really offer. The tranzitions @ work structured workplace leaning experience turns the intangible into reality through experience.

Structured Workplace Learning aims to:

• Provide students with an opportunity to relate school studies with workplace contexts;
• Prepare students for the demands and expectations of the working world;
• Help students make informed career decisions by assessing their aptitudes and interests, and exploring potential careers;
• Acquaint students with non-gender stereotyped occupations;
• Give students insights into the nature of the diversity of employees in the workplace;
• Improve students’ maturity, confidence and self reliance;
• Provide a link between the school and the local community;
• Provide opportunities for students to become more informed about current labour market issues; and
• Provide opportunities for students to learn about family care, household management and other unpaid work options in community activities
