Australian School Based Apprenticeship (ASbA)

Apprentice
Australian School-based Apprenticeships allow students –typically Years 11 and 12 – to study for their Queensland Certificate of Education (or equivalent), while at the same time undertaking government-approved and accredited training qualifications as paid employees.

Australian School Based Apprenticeships offer:

• A great way to get a head start in a chosen career
• Paid work and structured training that can be on the job or a combination of both
• ‘Competency based’ which means the student can complete their training faster if they can reach the required skill levels
• Nationally recognized qualifications and skills which provide the basis for further education and training over the course of your working life.
• A pathway from school to work
• A great way to get a qualification without getting a HECS debt

Students not only receive their Queensland Certificate of Education (or equivalent) at the end of year 12 but they also train towards qualifications in their chosen career.
